About the Electrical Maintenance Engineer II position
We are looking for a reliable Electrical Engineer to apply, teach, and ensure the execution of a professional maintenance system to achieve world class status in tire manufacturing: Eliminate forced deterioration of equipment and prevent accelerated deterioration > Reverse deterioration of equipment using breakdown analysis > Establish concise maintenance standards > Develop countermeasures against equipment weak points > Build a periodic maintenance system > Build a predictive maintenance system > Establish a cost management based Planned Maintenance System

• The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the planning, design, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems for the plant expansion project. This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that all electrical systems are properly integrated and meet project requirements. The Electrical Engineer will also ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, managing contractors, and overseeing project timelines.
Electrical Engineer II responsibilities are:
- Work with a “Safety Always” mindset through supporting and promoting continuous improvement of safety and health in the workplace
- Perform all duties with a “Quality First” mindset through improvement of work processes and procedures to eliminate and prevent defects
- Maintain a “big picture” focus and understanding of the complete tire manufacturing process
- Establish good rapport and build working relationships and networks with peers, technicians and other employees to develop a strong network/ support base
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and other third parties
- Remain current with professional practices and maintain a high awareness of new products and procedures in the industry. Monitor trade publications and actively participate in professional organizations
- Communicate information timely and clearly
- Support the designation of serial numbers for components, placement of orders and record-keeping of purchases in SAP to ensure required inventory levels
- Create Consultation Forms accurately and timely with minimal assistance
- Mentor assistant engineers and lead proposal development, contract documentation and other activities as required
- Execute a working pattern where all work activities and plans are “audit ready”
- Maintain a flexible personal work schedule as our plant is a 24/7 operation to ensure necessary work is completed to meet required deadlines through taking ownership in your area of responsibility
- Perform routine and intermediate duties requiring application and knowledge of engineering principles
- Prepare simple, routine, and intermediate plans, calculations and cost estimates by following standard engineering practices and procedures
- Interpret engineering specifications and solve routine and intermediate problems by applying defined procedures with proven precedent
- Systematically identify causes of problems and identify possible solutions in a Plan – Do – Check – Act methodology
- Research, learn, and drive introduction of enhanced maintenance techniques
- Drive cooperation between operators and maintenance staff to support equipment up-time objectives
- Engage in the implementation and improvement of Planned Maintenance activities and schedules to reduce costs
- Engage in the definition and application of efficient, sustainable cleaning, inspection, lubrication and re-tightening cycles (5S)
- Engage in activities related to improving equipment uptime, e.g. MTBF, MTTR, through application of know-how and skills and using Fault Analysis tools
- Engage in the restoration and maintenance of basic equipment conditions through analysis to stop deterioration
- Engage in Value Stream Mapping activities to identify NVA and eliminate redundancy and waste
- Perform other duties as assigned
This position may also focus on the following job tasks related to construction and installation:
Project Planning & Management:
- Define the electrical scope for the plant expansion, including systems such as power distribution, control systems, lighting, and communication networks
- Develop project schedules and monitor progress for the electrical portion of the project
- Assist in preparing cost estimates and budgeting for electrical systems and equipment
Design & Engineering:
- Design electrical power systems, including switchgear, transformers, motors, and backup power systems
- Prepare electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts
- Perform load calculations, short-circuit studies, and electrical fault analyses to ensure the integrity of the electrical design
- Coordinate electrical systems with other disciplines (mechanical, civil, process engineering)
Procurement & Vendor Coordination:
- Specify electrical equipment, including cables, switchgear, transformers, control panels, and lighting
- Review and approve technical proposals from vendors, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors during the procurement and installation phases
Installation & Commissioning:
- Oversee the installation of electrical equipment, ensuring that all work complies with the design, industry codes, and safety standards
- Supervise contractors and ensure quality control during the installation of electrical systems
- Lead and perform the commissioning of electrical systems, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring all systems are functional before handover
Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all electrical work complies with relevant local and international standards (e.g., IEEE, NEC, IEC)
- Perform inspections and audits to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with the project scope
- Address and resolve any electrical design or installation issues that arise during the project
Collaboration:
- Work closely with mechanical, civil, and instrumentation teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems
- Liaise with project managers and other stakeholders to provide updates and ensure timely completion of electrical tasks
- Support HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) teams to ensure safe electrical practices are embedded into the project design
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain all project-related documentation, including electrical drawings, technical reports, test procedures, and as-built records
- Prepare and present reports on project progress, risks, and issues to senior management and stakeholders
- Ensure that proper documentation is available for ongoing maintenance post-project completion
- Support plant expansion and expansion team members during construction, remodeling, and installation
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports
- Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software
- Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles
- Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information
- Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
- Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems
- Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification
- Perform other duties as assigned
Electrical Engineer II requirements are:
Education:
- (Required) Bachelor's degree; field of science or learning major required (Electrical Engineering majors preferred); advanced degree in a related field
Experience:
- (Required) 2+ years of proven engineering experience in the manufacturing industry
- (Preferred) Relevant experience preferred to include internships or Co-ops
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to frequently move about the manufacturing plant campus, general office environments, production areas, and occasionally ascend/descend stairs
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Must be able to position self to file documents including the top and bottom drawers of file cabinets
- Must be able to occasionally move office equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
